- Abstract: Biosurfactants are surface-active molecules produced by microorganisms, considered biodegradable and less toxic. In addition, they show good surface activity, having several industrial applications. Several studies are being carried out to obtain a high yield of this molecule to produce it on a large scale. Therefore, different microorganisms, culture media, and fermentation conditions are being evaluated to obtain this product. This chapter provides an overview of currently used microorganisms and tested culture media for possible large-scale biosurfactant production.
