- Abstract: Although these researchers have developed empirical evidence of IT influence on organizational performance, it must be emphasized that there is no consensus yet about the identification of the subjacent constructs that enable relating IT to both constructs. This paper pretends to contribute to answer the foregoing question. The first section presents a conceptual model based on a literature review and defines the construct capability of information management in the following four basic dimensions: quality of the IT infrastructure, capabilities of the IT team, behavior and value of the information, and intangible IT assets. These dimensions were analyzed in a multinational pharmaceutical company with operations in Brazil, using a methodological approach in the case study. This research identified concrete facts and practices that demonstrated how information management capacities might generate value in the company
