Endopeptidase 24.15 (EC 3.4.24.15) detection in the imune system (2002)

- Abstract: Objetivo: In order to gain insight on the function of EP24.15 in the immune system, immunocytochemistry was performed on spleen, thymus and lymph nodes. Métodos e Resultados: Male wistar rats were sacrificed and the spleen, thymus and cervical lymph nod were dissected out and fixed. Sections of 20mm thick were made and routine immunoperoxidase procedure to detect endopeptidase 24.15 was performed. The immunoreaction in the spleen was observed throughout the red pulp, with the strongest labeling surrounding the white pulp. The germinal center in the white pulp showed only few cells labeled. In the lymph nod the reaction was wide spread being observed in the lymphatic nodes of the cortex, specially in the germinal centers and in the medullary sinus. The reaction in the deep cortex of the linph nod was less intense. The thymus showed faint reaction in the cortical layer where only a few cells were labeled but was strong in the medulla was strong. Immunoreactivity was also observed in Hassall bodies. Conclusões: The preliminary data show EP24.15 located in several cells of the immune system such as macrophages, dendritic cells and lymphocytes. Further analysis is necessary to determine precisely the identity of the labeled cells
