Value co-creation in agro-industrial services: Implications of the adoption the lean thinking in service ecosystems (2022)

- Abstract: The service ecosystem approach allows the holistic view in the agro-industrial systems for creating innovation possibilities and guide the actors’ resource integration for the mutual value co-creation (BONAMIGO, 2017, FERENHOF ET AL., 2019, LI, 2009, HARDAKER ET AL., 2021). In this context, the lack of cooperation among the actors is a gap for the developing solutions based on services in the agricultural sector (Bonamigo et al., 2020, 2018, 2016, 2017). The impacts of this problem are linked to the weak agricultural products traceability, which depends on the information and knowledge sharing, among the actors (YANG et al., 2020, FENG et al., 2020). Against the gap exposed above, the aim of this research is to empirically analyze and conceptualize the implication of Lean Thinking (LK) in value co-creation agribusiness services. A service ecosystem is defined as: “a relatively self-contained, self-adjusting system of resource integrating actors connected by shared institutional arrangements and mutual value creation through service exchange” (VARGO AND LUNCH, 2016). So, the resources configurations as people, technology, organizations, and shared information are base for the value cocreation (MAGLIO AND SPOHRER, 2008, VARGO et al., 2008). For the management of the orchestration of actors and the elements listed, from the perspective of processes, LK is a potential alternative for support the central actor (BONAMIGO et al., 2021, KURNIASARI et al., FENG et al., 2020, NIELSEN AND PEJSTRUP, 2018, SATOLO et al., 2017, TRIENEKENS, 2011, ZOKAEI AND SIMONS, 2006).
