- Abstract: Sete espécies de Amaeana eram conhecidas até o presente estudo, A. accraensis (Augener, 1918), A. antipoda (Augener, 1926), A. apheles (Hutchings, 1974), A. colei (McIntosh, 1926), A. occidentalis (Hartman, 1944), A. trilobata (Sars, 1863), que é a espécie tipo do gênero, e A. yirrarn Hutchings, 1997. Exceto por A. colei e A. antipoda, cujos tipos não conseguimos localizar, foi examinado material tipo ou das localidades tipo de todas estas espécies, e são aqui fornecidas redescrições destes táxons; além disso, é designado um lectótipo para A. trilobata, enquanto A. colei e A. antipoda são consideradas como nomen nuda. Além das espécies já conhecidas, são descritas sete novas para a ciência, uma do Brasil, A. brasiliensis sp. nov., outra de Taiwan, A. hsiehae sp. nov., e cinco australianas, A. angulus sp. nov., A. breviachaeta sp. nov., A. crassispinulata sp. nov., A. dampierensis sp. nov. e A. ellobophora sp. nov. Discute-se os caracteres mais importantes para distinguir as espécies deste gênero, com uma tabela comparativa e uma chave de identificação para as espécies conhecidas.
