- Abstract: Vários testes histoquímicos e captação do sulfato foram aplicados nas células epiteliais de revestimento do esôfago da cobra Xenodon Merremii. Os resultados obtidos nos permitem as seguintes conclusões: 1- Os grânulos das células calciformes contém ácido siálico, polissacarídeos neutros e polissacarídeos ácidos (carboxilados e sulfatados). 2- Além destas substâncias, nos grânulos das células colunares foram também evidenciados arginina, tirosina, triptofano e cisteina. 3- No citoplasma das células ciliadas e das células basais foi determinado ainda arginina, tirosina, triptofano, cisteina, fosfatase ácida, ATPase, esterase e RNA.
