Bleaching in teeth endodontically treated: a clinical case (2006)

- Abstract: Dental bleaching is a routine procedure in the odontologic clinic. However, the cervical root resorption, is known that's one deleterious effect for teeth and structures of support, being most serious described in literature. In order to prevent it, a cervical barrier is previously confectioned to the rank of the bleaching agents, thus being able, to prevent the infiltration of this product to the pulp chamber. A patient looked for Posgaduation Clinic of the FOB-USP, with the intention to bleach teeth 11 and 12, both with endodontic treatment. After anamnesis, clinical and radiographic examination and color selection were opted initially to the mediate technique, with 35% sodium perborate mixed with distilled water. It was carried through absolute isolation, coronary opening, removal of gutta percha, cleanness of the region, confection of cervical barrier with glass ionomer, application of the 37% phosphoric acid and the bleaching agent mix. This procedure was repeated for 3 sessions. In 4th session, the external bleaching enhanced with LASER was used to complete the treatment. After that, a calcium hydroxide paste to alkaline the cervical region was applied. A satisfactory result was achieved. The bleaching treatment is an effective and safe procedure, since that correctly indicated and carried through
