- Abstract: Objetivo: Total RNA from LPS stimulated rat macrophages was used to treat an Aspergillus nidulans (Emericella nidulans) strain resulting in the RT2 which culture supernatant showed anti-inflammatory activity in male Wistar rats (Cell Mol Biol. 42(2):235-40, 1996). Métodos e Resultados: The proteic fraction presenting such anti-inflammatory activity was purified and biochemically identified. The selection of the proteic fraction presenting the anti-inflammatory property was performed through the observation of podal oedema inhibition after carragenin induction, in male Swiss mice. Biochemical analyses, the method that presented the best results for peptide purification was that of molecular exclusion chromatography, since the peptide didn't adsorbed to other used chromatographic matrix. The total sugar quantification revealed that the peptide presented 32% of glycosilation. Relative to the pharmacological activity of this peptide, the oedema reduction occurred just in the first hour after oedema induction. The amino acid analyses showed a peculiar pattern with 29%of valine. The mass spectrometry revealed that the proteic sample is a conjugated glycopeptide with 5 peptides with 2.3 to 4.6 KDa. Conclusões: This work show, in first time, an anti-inflammatory activity on a supernatant glycopeptide never found before, but the biochemistry characterization of this sample
