- Abstract: Objetivo: The newly-synthesized hepatic pool of TAG can be channeled towards to secretion of VLDL or storage in the cytosolic compartment. The aim of the study was to verify the effect of high fat diets upon the partitioning of liver TAG pool. Métodos e Resultados: Wistar rats (weighting 200-220g) received high fat diets (70% of calories from FAT) with diferentt fatty acid profile (FO- fish oil, SB - soy bean oil, Cn - coconut oil and Cb - cocoa butter) for 8 weeks. Plasma TAG concentration was determined by enzymatic assay (Merck?). The incorporation of 14C-oleate in the VLDL-TAG in the liver and liver fat content determinations were carried as described in Exp. Cell. Res. 117: 39-46,1978 and Biochem. FO treatment, on the other hand, reduced the contribution of newly synthesized TAG to VLDL assembly and secretion. Futhermore, FO feeding seems to activated the mobilization of the pre-existent hepatic pool of TAG to VLDL-TAG assembly
