- Abstract: Beginning with an analysis of arithmetical behavior, this work proposes the teaching of the concept of number, in values from zeros to 7, using Sidman's equivalency paradigm. For the formation of classes of stimulants, a program was elaborated where introduced one at a time, in a cumulative way, in different combinations (4 for the value of zero, and 240 for the other values). The classes were formed by drawings, names and digits. The program envisions, after a general pretest, the teaching of the quantities 1,2,3,4, along the irrelevant dimensions. All of the phases involve a specific pre-test and a post-test of the emergent relations. Next, a training exercise is given on the expansion of the concept of number, introducing the values zero, 5, 6 and 7, following the previous model. The final part of the program involves the naming of the values from zero to 7, including the pre-test, training exercise, and tests of emerging relations. The program was applied to four preschool children. One child already knew the classes 1,2,3 and 4 when he began the program, and only made the final phases 7 and 8, referenced to the classes of zero, 5, 6 and 7, and to the relations of oral naming and digits; the other three children made all of the programmed phases, but only the pre-tests and tests of equivalency. As they made the tests, the classes emerged as a result of a very gradual introdution of diffrerent configurations of stimulants.
