- Abstract: With the energy consuming and polluting gas emission increasing, biodiesel becomes as a promisory solution as energy source, which is synthesized by the transesterification reaction between a triacilglycerol and an alcohol. To improve the efficiency of its production, the thermodynamic behavior at different pressures and temperatures has to be studied [1]. For that purpose, an equation of state (EoS) is generally used. There are many types of equations of state, being the Group Contribuiton Volume-Translated Peng-Robinson equation the best one used recently because it can model different types of complex substances. This work aims to model binary systems, at low and high pressures, of biodiesel components with two equations: Group Contribution Volume-Translated Peng-Robinson (GC-VT-PR) and Perturbed Chain-Statistical Association Fluid Theory (PC-SAFT). From the deviations in pressure and the mole fraction in vapor phase, the PC-SAFT model had better performance than the GC-VT-PR model.
