- Abstract: Impactos das mudanças climáticas já são observados no Brasil em alguns setores. As pesquisas recentes indicam que as diferentes regiões do país apresentam registros de efeitos adversos à saúde humana, principalmente em populações vulneráveis, marcadas pelas desigualdaes sociais. As doenças de veiculação hídrica relacionadas à crise de abastecimento de água apontam o aumento da diarreia infantil nas regiões Norte e Nordeste. Outros resultados que apresentaram evidência no desenvolvimento do projeto INCT para Mudanças Climáticas foram os impactos na mortalidade geral devido a eventos climáticos extremos, como enchentes e secas, e as doenças transmitidas por vetores, como dengue e malária; o incremento da morbidade por doenças respiratórias associadas aos efeitos sinérgicos da interação da poluição do ar com os fatores meteorológicos; e o aumento da mortalidade de idosos por doenças cardiovasculares relacionadas aos extremos de temperatura. A partir do projeto INCT para Mudanças Climáticas, o subprojeto Saúde teve a oportunidade de ampliar o escopo do Observatório de Clima e Saúde e desenvolver aplicativos para a integração e disseminação de dados sobre clima, ambiente, população e saúde no Brasil. A disponibilização de dados e informações permite que o usuário obtenha resultados de indicadores e riscos das mudanças climáticas para a saúde dos brasileiros. O observatório também contribui para a estrutura de um sistema de alertas sobre eventos extremos, de modo a subsidiar os tomadores de decisão no planejamento de ações proativas e preventivas. As abordagens metodológicas para avaliação e análise de dados de saúde e das projeções dos cenários climáticos ainda necessitam avançar no desenvolvimento de modelos de impacto e vulnerabilidade que contemplem a dinâmica social considerando diferentes escalas territoriais (macrorregiões, estados e municípios).O projeto também contribuiu de forma significativa para a formação de mestres e doutores, com a inserção de instituições nacionais e internacionais nos projetos, e para avanços nas parcerias internacionais.
