- Abstract: The study of relativistic heavy ion collisions is a very important tool in order to understand the strong inter- action described by Quantum ChromoDynamics (QCD). The formation of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) and the study of its properties is a very challenging quest and it can bring important information regarding basic properties of the strong interaction and the collective behavior of nuclear matter at the high temperature regime. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) from CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) gen- erates ultra-relativistic Pb+Pb collisions at the TeV scale inaugurating a new era for such studies. Reaching temperatures and energy density never achieved before, it can produce a hotter and longer lived QGP, facili- tating the exploration of its properties. The four LHC experiments, ATLAS, CMS, LHCb and ALICE, are able to measure the products of such collisions with di®erent phase space coverage and aiming at di®erent observ- ables, making their measurements complementary and comprehensive. The ALICE experiment was specially designed to study heavy ion collisions, covering the midrapidty phase space region with several systems as a Time Projection Chamber, a Electromagnetic Calorimeter and a Time of Flight detector. In this presentation, Ill discuss the latest measurements from the LHC regarding heavy ion collisions, highlighting some results that can shed light in the QGP understanding.
