- Abstract: Segundo o professor Paulo Brandão, a febre amarela é um grande problema para a população de macacos. A Rádio USP esclarece as principais dúvidas sobre a febre amarela e, no primeiro episódio de uma série dedicada ao tema, o professor Paulo Brandão, veterinário e epidemiólogo da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia da Universidade de São Paulo, responde as questões relacionadas à febre contraída pelos macacos, o que fazer ao achar um macaco morto e como as mortes podem alertar sobre uma possível epidemia. A febre, que teve os primeiros casos entre a África e a Ásia, causa lentidão nos primatas e faz com que desçam das árvores, o que normalmente não acontece, além de causar a falta de apetite. Brandão ainda fala a respeito da transmissão para os humanos através do mosquito e, quando não dada a devida atenção à moléstia, sobre o risco de evolução para a febre urbana, que é transmitida pelo Aedes aegypti, transmissor também da dengue, chikungunya e zika virus.
