- Abstract: This paper aims to highlight open questions in organizational analysis for exploration in structural ambidexterity . Although ambidextrous organization discussion in literature has grown since last years, is still scarce a deeper analysis about organizational structure focused on continuously and systematically development of exploration projects . Based on a literature review on ISI Web of Science and SCOPUS , there were analyzed the most cited, the newest and other reference papers in structural ambidexterity . We found three research themes which can be categorized as: i) organizational design analysis and/or new organizational structure propositions, ii) integration and coordination mechanisms, iii) assessment of results and/or performance of organizational structure. The analysis of these three research themes helped to identify what has been discussed in literature –“what we know” - and open questions – “what we do not know” . The former provides a literature mapping and their contributions on structural ambidexterity . The latter highlight open questions, which can enable avenues for future researches. The open questions are related to: i) extending firms’ limits (“cross-boundary”) , ii) influences of contingency factors and iii) dynamic capabilities . In this sense, this paper contributes to consolidate the main aspects in literature for exploration in structural ambidexterity and to analyze its open questions
