- Abstract: The current economic environment is marked by fierce competition among companies that have sought alternatives to optimize product flow in the supply chain as a way to gain competitive advantage. Within this context, collaboration and information sharing have become increasingly vital to deliver a real optimization of manufacturing and distribution, which are essential and significant parts of this process. The advances in information technology and the advent of Internet make it possible to obtain real-time information, provided that a collaborative work has been established in the supply chain. In other words, there are no more technical and technological constraints and such initiatives depend on the interest and vision of companies to work together. In the literature, this type of initiative is usually called QRP - Quick Response Program. The QRPs are logistic services based on collaboration and information sharing of customer demand information with its supplier. Each type of QRP has specific and distinct characteristics, yet they all need an information system to share and bring accurate and updated information into the process. In this context, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and DSS (Decision Support System) emerge as tools capable of strengthening the relationship among companies and enabling QRP initiatives. DSS can be defined as a computerized system that provides data models to assist decision makers in making choices and taking actions. The DSS is composed of 3 basic components: interface, data, and models that, although they may vary from application to application, always exist somehow. The aim of this article is to discuss the interface component and how information overload can impact the effectiveness of decision makers’ choices. Based on an exploratory case study, this article raises the opportunities of a DSS toll against theory and proposes actions to improve its interface using ergodesign concepts
