  • Abstract: É inquestionável a necessidade da comunicação nas relações humanas e sociais. As organizações são coletividades de pessoas especializadas na produção de bens e serviços, cuja constituição e o desenvolvimento fundamentam-se na comunicação. Muitos dos problemas e desafios organizacionais são, entretanto, originados da falta ou da dificuldade de comunicação. O sucesso da implementação de propostas de desenvolvimento do turismo depende da consistência, da clareza e da eficácia da comunicação entre os atores e as comunidades responsáveis pelo setor, visando à sua participação e ao seu comprometimento com as decisões e realizações. O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar a importância do Observatório de Turismo e Cultura da Serra Gaúcha (Observatur) para a comunicação entre os atores do turismo regional. A região é um dos cinco principais destinos turísticos do Brasil. Para a realização do estudo, de natureza descritiva e exploratória, além de observação direta e observação participante, fez-se revisão de relatórios e de históricos do Observatur. Em razão da série de atividades inéditas realizadas pelo Observatur, verificam se avanços nas propostas de integração regional por meio da comunicação entre os atores do turismo da região da Serra Gaúcha.
