- Abstract: The Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) has found wide dissemination as an indicator to assess the effectiveness of an organization in the utilization of its production systems’ capacity. However, in general, the application of this tool has been limited to contexts that are more ordinary like the evaluation of the productivity of standalone equipment. Over recent years, a number of works have identified limitations of applying OEE as indicator when an organization tries to use it under circumstances that do not fully fit the premises considered in the conceptualization of OEE. Thus, different indicators that may better support organizations that are seeking assessment tools applicable under circumstances of higher complexity have been developed. This work presents and analyzes such alternative indicators identified in a literature review and delineates a framework to consider the scope of the object to be evaluated and their loss analysis perspective
