- Abstract: One of the very active field in nuclear physics nowadays is the investigation of nuclei at extreme conditions in terms of density, temperature, angular momentum and isospin. When a light nuclei have a large number of neutrons or protons it can show unusual properties and it is called sometimes $exotic nuclei$. The possibility of using radioactive (exotic) nuclear beams has opened an exciting field of investigation in nuclear physics with strong implications in areas such as nuclear astrophysics. Many experiments with radioactive light particles beams such as the borromean $^6$He nucleus, $^7$Be, $^8$Li and proton-halo $^8$B nucleus have been performed to investigate low energy reactions such as elastic scattering and transfer reactions, which can provide useful information on the structure of these light nuclei. In this seminar I will present the motivation to investigate structure of light exotic nuclei and I will present some experimental results on total reaction cross sections extracted from the elastic scattering data and spectroscopic factors extracted from the transfer reactions. Implications of the structure of exotic nuclei in nuclear astrophysics will also be presented.
