- Abstract: This study presents analyses involving sociodemographic factors, working conditions and lifestyles associated with physical health of 696 nursing professionals. They worked at an University Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil. Participants filed in a comprehensive questionnaire, including SF-36. The largest group of diagnosed and self-reported diseases was musculoskeletal disorders. Among health dimensions, bodily pain was the factor showing the lowest score. The imbalance between efforts an rewards, low social support, over commitment at work and work-related diseases were factors associated with three or more of the considered dimensions. These results suggest the work organization has a significant importance on physical health
