- Abstract: We compared more and less tolerant nurse assistants to night work, regarding their sleepiness, sleep duration and sleep quality. Twelve healthy female participants wore actigraphs, filled out daily logs with visual analogue scales and the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale. Nurses were classified as more or less tolerant to night work based on their perceptions of fadigue, sleep disturbances, minor psychic disorders and reduced availability of free time off-work. Less tolerant nurses showed significant lower sleep quality and higher sleepiness levels. The procedure here used may be useful to classify workers as to their tolerance to night work
