Associated factors for health perception among nursing professionals (2008)

- Abstract: On a former study carried out with personnel comprising 696 registered nurses, nursing assistants and technicians working at a public hospital, 30.3% reported suffering from mild emotional disturbances. The present study shows results of socio-demographic factors, life styles, working and living conditions associate with psychological wellbeing. Participants fill in a comprehensive questionnaire including the SF-36. Vitality and mental health were the factors showing lowest scores. The imbalance between efforts and reward at work, high work demands associated to low work control, and low social support and overcommitement at work were factors associated with the four considered dimensions (vitality, social functioning, role-emotional, mental health). These results suggest the work organization has a significant importance on psychological wellbeing.
