Evaluation of indexing language in the perspective of the organizational culture of the BIREME information system with a focus on the development of brazilian science (2005)

- Abstract: Os avanços tecnológicos e a expansão dos apoios financeiros foram alguns dos fatores determinantes para o planejamento tecnológico e científico ocorrido no final da década de 1940 que influenciaram o crescente desenvolvimento da ciência brasileira. A linguagem documentária, nesse contexto, deve refletir a necessiidade de pesquisa da comunidade científica brasileira, bem como representar a cultura organizacional em que se insere o sistema de informação representada por seus elementos culturais e sua forma de atuação. Quando a linguagem documentária não oferece compatibilidade com a linguagem de busca desse pesquisador e, conseqüentemente não reflete essa cultura, compromete a qualidade da pesquisa realizada e a credibilidade do sistema de informação. Dessa maneira, a proposição é avaliar, por meio dos elementos da cultura organizacional do Sistema de Informação BIREME, a linguagem documentária DeCS, utilizada para a recuperação da informação no Sistema LILACS, com o intuito de obter indicadores para delinear as estratégias de aprimoramento da linguagem na área de Fonoaudiologia. Para tanto, utilizou-se a técnica do protocolo verbal ou "pensar alto" (think aloud), tendo como sujeitos, quatro pesquisadoes do Departamento de Fonoaudiologia da FOB-USP representando as quatro especialidades da área: Linguagem, Voz, motricidade Oral e Audiologia, e observados, com protocolo verbal, na tarefa de realizar a recuperação de desempenho da linguagem informações, no campo dedescritor de assunto da interface de busca da base de dados LILACS utilizando a linguagem DeCS. A análise das transcrições dos protocolos verbais demonstrou que a metodologia empregada foi eficaz por possibilitar a coleta, em tempo real, das declarações dos sujeitos (pesquisadores) sobre o desempenho da linguagem DeCS utilizada para a recuperação de informação no Sistema LILACS ) da pesquisa e os resultados obtidos da análise revelam que a linguagem DeCS, em Fonoaudiologia, conduziu as buscas a resultados insatisfatórios quanto à recuperação da informação, não só a partir de aspectos formais da linguagem como por não possuir termos genéricos e/ou específicos suficientes para representar a área em estudo, bem como no sentido da linguagem não refletir a terminologia utilizada pela comunidade científica brasileira, entre outros fatores que comprometem o desenvolvimento da ciência e da pesquisa na área de fonoaudiologia. Conclui-se que o aprimoramento da linguagem DeCS na área de Fonoaudiologia requer atualização dos descritores conforme a realidade de avanço científico da área, entre outros aspectos. Recomenda-se a BIREME, instituição responsável pela elaboração do Vocabulário DeCS, a construção de uma categoria específica para a área de Fonoaudiologia, representante da literatura e da comunidade científica brasileira da área, indo ao encontro dos seus objetivos e de sua cultura organizacional.
