- Abstract: The present study aimed at verifying whether the introduction of a HYPERCALORIC DIET (a formula milk with 5-7 % 01 glucose polymer and 3-5% 01 medium chain triglycerides with essential lat acids) inlluenced the patients' nutritional state regardless of the clinical treatments standardised in our hospital. Melhod: A prospective and longitudinal study (6 months) was conducted on 34 Robin Sequence patients, both genders, submitted to anthropometric, dietary and laboratory evaluations at 3 moments (A1=36.6+29.01; A2=102.6+9.98 and A3= 181.9+18.16d). Results: There was a significant energy increase (P<0.0001) with an average caloric intake 01 203.1Callkg/d at A2 and 175.1 Callkg/d at A3 and protein intake 01 2.6 g/kg/d at A2 and 3.3 g/kg/d aI"A3, which allowed a signilicant growth ·rate (P<0.0001), above the percentile 50 (NCHS) for most 01 the patients. The average intake volume varied from 60-116 ml for each nursing, approximately 50% less than normal children intake. No alterations were observed in fat free mass values, body fat values, plasmatic triglyderides and colesterol levels and visceral protein stores. Conclusions: The conclusion was that the HYPERCALORIC DIET allowed the recovering and maintenance 01 the nutritional state 01 these infants, even 01 those with serious apnea
