- Resumo: This study assesses inequalities of child survival in Europe, with information supplied by the World Health Organization. Central and Eastern European countries presented higher infant mortality rates and lower decreasing trend than richer European Union and Nordic countries. An improved profile of socio-economic status associated with lower figures of infant mortality in both sets of countries. However, the drop of rates in EU and NC was faster in poorer countries, indicating that they benefited from the recent geopolitical process, the inverse occuring in CEE countries. Health services countributed to reduce health inequalities, by hastening the decrease of infant mortality
