- Abstract: (continuation) More astrocytes and microglia were found in cochlear (140% and 163%, respectively) and lateral superior olivary nuclei (87% and 148%, respectively) after the treatments. Increased (35%) bFGF imunoreactivity was found in SG neurons ofthe gentamycin treated P15 offspring. bFGF was also increased in the glial cell nuclei of the CN (93%) and LSO (143%) of groups treated with gentamycin.Conclusões: The gentamycin-induced hearing loss can trigger cell death and glial changes inthe cochlea and auditory pathways. The glial rection and the regulation of the bFGF in these regions following gentamycin treatment may represent adaptive response to the lesion
